Only one week left until the opening of the exhibition of contemporary Japanese calligraphy by Sensui Oikawa!

September 18 – October 2

Official opening: September 18 (Wednesday), 6:00 PM

The contemporary master of Japanese calligraphy, Sensui Oikawa, has a rich creative biography with numerous national and international exhibitions, including in Paris, Los Angeles, Vienna, and others.

Her first visit to Bulgaria was in 1981 as the youngest member of a Japanese delegation of specialists in classical Japanese literature. At that time, Sensui Oikawa presented her calligraphy exhibition in the National Library and donated her works to its collection.

37 years later, in 2018, Sensui Oikawa visited Bulgaria again to showcase the exhibition "The World of Genji Monogatari" (the most representative work in classical Japanese literature).

After a break due to the COVID pandemic, she will return to Bulgaria to present her new works on the theme "Japanese Family Crests" at San Stefano Gallery.
