February 2025

After its successful showcase in Beirut in 2024, Tools for After Design arrives in Sofia on the occasion of Italian Design Day 2025, now in its ninth edition. The exhibition will be hosted at San Stefano Gallery, presented in collaboration with the Italian Embassy, the Italian Cultural Institute, and the Italian Trade Agency in Sofia.

This year’s theme, “Fabricating Value – Inclusivity, Innovation, and Sustainability,” invites reflection on the future of design in the age of the Anthropocene. The exhibition explores the intersection of craftsmanship, technological innovation, and environmental responsibility, asking urgent questions: What are the tools of the future? Why do we need new tools?

Tools for After Design features innovative projects, speculative designs, and experimental solutions that challenge traditional notions of beauty and utility. These works are rooted in the pursuit of sustainable practices, low environmental impact, and a reimagining of the materials and methods we rely on.

Join us at San Stefano Gallery to engage with ideas that map out the imaginaries of the Anthropocene—an evolving workshop of possibilities, strategies, and collective visions for a world in transformation.
