8 May – 15 June 2018

Vernissage: 8 May 2018, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

From 8 May to 15 June 2018, San Stefano Gallery presents IMP-ART: Impossible Art – a retrospective exhibition by Johan Yotov, a prominent artist and an Associate Professor of Graphic Arts at the National Academy of Arts.

The exhibition presents more than 80 of his best artworks located in two venues - San Stefano Gallery and the contemporary art space situated opposite the gallery. In the main lounge, the viewer has the opportunity to see graphic artworks featuring the aesthetics and philosophy of the artistic trend IMP-ART.

Yohan Yotov started his artistic career dedicated to the idea of exploring the trend IMP-ART as far back as 20 years ago. He aims at using not only curious optical effects, but also depicting things that are invisible to the naked eye by applying the primary cues and common techniques used in IMP-ART.

He used classical graphic techniques in his artworks such as stone lithography and blending of various methods from the rich panoply of deep print engravings. There is no digital interference in his pictures and by doing so, the artist conveys the unique vivacity of manual art-making, which is impossible to be achieved through faultless computer calculations.
